sh_kaolin - High-quality kaolins for industrial applications
Kaolin is more than just a filler - it is a key functional raw material for high-performance formulations in construction chemicals, paints, ceramics and plastics technology. With sh_kaolin, sh minerals offers a specialized product line of four high-quality kaolin types: hydrous, calcined, meta kaolin and ball clay. Each product is tailored to industrial requirements - whether for reactivity, brightness, plasticity or opacity.
Benefit from technically tested qualities, application-specific advice and our experience as a reliable kaolin partner throughout Europe.

Hydrous Kaolin
Hydrous Kaolin is a natural, non-calcined kaolin with high brightness and very good dispersibility. It is particularly suitable as a functional filler in paints, plasters, fillers and adhesive systems. Thanks to its platelet-shaped particle structure, it improves stability, prevents sedimentation and contributes to the rheological stability of formulations - while at the same time offering attractive cost structures.

Calcined Kaolin
Calcined kaolin is produced by the targeted thermal treatment of hydrous kaolin. The result is a particularly opaque, hard and chemically stable product that is used in high-performance coatings, plastics and specialty papers. Among other things, it improves mechanical strength, scratch resistance and UV stability - while maintaining high color brilliance.

Meta-Kaolin
Meta-Kaolin is a highly reactive, amorphous aluminum silicate with a pozzolanic effect - ideal for modern cement, concrete and mortar systems. It increases the strength, impermeability and durability of your formulations and at the same time reduces the formation of harmful reaction products such as ettringite or alkali-silicate reactions. Meta-Kaolin is particularly suitable for UHPC, shotcrete and special mortars.

Ball Clay
Ball clay is a particularly plastic, clayey raw material with a high kaolinite content, which is valued for its malleability, green strength and even firing properties. It is the basis for many ceramic applications - from sanitary ceramics to tiles and foundry molds. The fine grain structure ensures excellent workability and high dimensional stability in the drying and firing process.
